Music versus photography

Music and photography are my two passion hobbies, and they compete for my time. In the case above, they merge as the bokeh reflections are provided by the piano.

It was an interesting musical year for me. I concentrated mostly on piano (guitar is my first instrument) and mixes. I’ve loved listening to my son Andy compose about 50 songs, and we have both been learning the "DJ" technology.

This was the year I discovered rap and hip-hop. I am only 15 years late.

Here were the CDs that consumed my attention in 2011:
* Age of Adz & All Delighted People, Sufjan Stevens
* Whole Love, Wilco
* Book of Mormon soundtrack
* The Chronic, Dr. Dre
* Straight Outta Compton, NWA
* Low End Theory, Tribe Called Quest
* Original Gangster, Ice-T
* All Days are Nights, Rufus Wainwright
* The E.N.D., Black Eyed Peas
* Memories are My Only Witness, Yuka Honda
* Mixes by DJ JSlay and Nuno Endo, and swinghop
* Turntablists like Kid Koala DJ Signify, DJ Quest, and Mix Master Mike
* Anything by the Residents or Philip Glass

From 1995 Album: “Hold It Down”…[Artist info below]….. Get Das EFX’s Music: www.amazon.com & itunes.apple.com Das EFX is an American hip-hop group. It consists of emcees Skoob (also known as Books, born William “Willie” Hines on January 2, 1971) and Dre (also known as Krazy Drayzy, born Andre Weston on June 1, 1972). They rose to popularity in the early 1990s due to their affiliation with EPMD’s Hit Squad and the group’s stream of consciousness lyrical delivery, which became one of the most influential lyrical styles in hip hop music during the early 1990s.[1] Their style combined nonsensical lines with a fast-paced ragga-influenced flow (that included words that end with “iggedy”) and numerous pop culture references. Group member Skoob hails from Brooklyn, New York City while Krazy Drayzy hails from Teaneck, New Jersey but the two met at Virginia State University in 1988 and began performing together. They named themselves “Das” standing for “Drayz and Skoob” and “EFX” meaning “effects”. Das EFX caught the attention of EPMD at a local talent show where, despite losing the competition, they did well enough to convince EPMD to sign them to a recording contract. The duo gained critical and commercial fame with the release of their landmark debut album, Dead Serious, which highlighted their unusual rapping style which they nicknamed “sewage”. Dead Serious went platinum and its lead single, “They Want EFX,”(which contains samples from James Brown’s “Blind Man Can See It
