Hip-Hop Culture in College Students’ Lives: Elements, Embodiment, and Higher Edutainment
College campuses have become rich sites of hip-hop culture and knowledge production. Despite the attention that campus personnel and researchers have paid to student life, the field of higher education has often misunderstood the ways that hip-hop culture exists in college students’ lives. Based upon in-depth interviews, observations of underground hip-hop spaces, and the author’s own active roles in hop-hop communities, this book provides a rich portrait of how college students who create hip-hop—both male and female, and of multiple ethnicities—embody its principles and aesthetics on campuses across the United States. The book looks beyond rap music, school curricula, and urban adolescents to make the empirical argument that hip-hop has a deep cultural logic, habits of mind, and worldview components that students apply to teaching, learning, and living on campus.
Hip-Hop Culture in College Students’ Lives provides critical insights for researchers and campus personnel working with college students, while pushing cultural observers to rethink the basic ways that people live hip-hop.

October 26, 2011 (DAY 36) – Today I am listening to one of the coolest Japanese hip-hop duo’s from Heartsdales, sisters Rum and Jewels. Both lived in Tokyo and Japan and began their music career in 2002 but called it quits in 2006 as Yumi continued to focus on her design career and start a family, while Emi still lives in Tokyo. The album I am listening today is "The Legend" which is the duo’s best album and an album to close out their music career. There are so many favorite songs on this album such as "BODY ROCK", "So Tell Me" to name a few. I miss this group! 私の音楽365写真プロジェクト

A hip-hop icon since the early 1990s, Nas emerged from the Queensbridge neighborhood of Long Island City, a hotbed of rap artist since the ’80s. The son of jazz trumpeter Olu Dara, Nas has since gone on to sell over 20 million albums worldwide over the span of his legendary career. The first full-length album by poet and rhyme-master Nas arrived in 1994, the RIAA platinum "Illmatic". Since then he has released eight solo albums and three compilation albums that have garnered 11 GRAMMY nominations and been certified double-platinum, platinum or gold.
The youngest son of Reggae legend Bob Marley, Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley garnered his own place in music history when he became the first ever Reggae artist to win a GRAMMY outside of the Reggae category, taking home an award for Best Urban/Alternative performance for the "Welcome To Jamrock" single. The acclaimed breakthrough 2005 disc also won a GRAMMY for Best Reggae Album. Heralded by Rolling Stone as one of the ‘Top 10 new artists to watch,’ Marley has been touring non-stop shaking up stages all over the world.
Nas and Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley have come together to create their new album, "Distant Relatives." It is an album created by two serious artists to explore and celebrate the correlations and deep-rooted connections between reggae and hip hop, tracing both sounds back to the African motherland that is both the cradle of humanity and the wellspring of mankind’s music.

Question by Vic G: I got some hip hop shirts to sale, where is the best place to start?
I got some hip hop shirts to sale, they are something like streetwise or the old fabricali t shirts sort of west coast type style, and I need to sale about 150 of them. my question is where would be the best spot to set up shop and sell them. I tried venice beach but they said it needs to have a political or religious statement or some s@*t, and I dont want to sale at a swapmeet, I need you guys help, im tryin to eat in these hard times, any tips welcome. thanks.
